Eligibility Criteria for Canada PR
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a person registered under the Canadian Indian Act
- Must reside in Canada, or intend to return to Canada once the sponsored person becomes a permanent resident
- Must agree to financially support the sponsored person for a specific period (length depends on relationship type)
- Must meet minimum income requirements (applies mainly when sponsoring parents/grandparents or other relatives)
- Must not be in default of previous sponsorship undertakings, immigration loans, or child/spousal support payments
- Must not be receiving social assistance for reasons other than disability
- Must not be convicted of certain criminal offenses (e.g., domestic violence, sexual assault)
- Must complete and sign a sponsorship agreement with the person being sponsored
