In most cases, a job offer is required to apply for a work-based residence permit in Sweden. Exceptions include:
- Applying for a study permit, where university admission is needed instead of a job offer
- Joining a family member who resides legally in Sweden under family reunification rules
- Applying for a self-employment permit, where a detailed business plan and financial proof are required
- If your stay is based on work, then a formal employment offer from a Swedish employer is mandatory before applying.
