The UK tourist visa or Standard Visitor visa cannot be converted into a work permit or any other long-term visa type while you are in the United Kingdom. If you plan to work in the UK you need to go back to Canada and then make a Skilled Worker Visa application. The UK immigration rules specifically prohibit visa category changes on a visit visa within the country which could lead to denial or future restrictions.
