Certain candidates are exempted from the Atlantic Immigration Program requirements who are:
- International graduate
- Degree, certificate, or diploma holder
- Completed two-year study course
- Studied from any recognized 24 post-secondary institutions in Atlantic Canada
- Full-time student for the entire period
- Reside in any one of the Atlantic Canada provinces for at least 16 months during the two years before graduating and
- Had required visa or permit while they were in Canada
