The Government
of Canada has started to offer ITAs for Canada PGP - Parents and Grandparents Program. The first set of invitations to
apply was offered on 24th April. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
has said that it will take some days to send ITAs to all potential sponsors.
The Canada PGP permits Canadian citizens and PR holders to sponsor their grandparents and /parents for Canada PR Visa. The sponsors must be above the age of 18 years, as quoted by the CIC News.
IRCC said that
ITAs are being offered in the order in which the Interest to Sponsor forms were accepted. This was during the period
of submission held on 28 January 2019.
The invitations
will be sent to the email address
provided in the Interest to Sponsor form. Nevertheless, IRCC has said that
some ITAs could possibly land up in the junk mail folder. So, sponsors must
make sure to check there as well.
Sponsors who
receive an ITA from IRCC will have 60
days to submit a complete application for sponsorship. This is from the
date of their invitation.
The IRCC’s target for the Canada Parents and Grandparents Program for 2019 is 20,000 complete applications. Other invitation rounds can be held to meet the target in 2019 if necessary, added the IRCC. Interested sponsors who obtain the ITA must file 2 complete applications:
1. The application for becoming a PGP sponsor
2. The application from their grandparents or
parents for the Canada PR
Both the
applications must be filed at the same time said the IRCC. It must also be
ensured by the applicants that they
are using the latest forms.
Applicants must carefully go through the instruction guide prior to completing
the application, added IRCC.
